About this machine

What the G1 420 dyes

The Tonello G1 420 LD3 is a garment dyeing machine: a rotary drum that dyes finished garments and parts rather than yarn or flat fabric. It runs Tonello's patented high-speed open system, and with the UP system fitted it dyes at a liquor ratio as low as 3:1, which is where the water, chemistry and energy savings come from. The LD3 is the low-speed spin cycle for gentle handling, and the same G1 series offers a medium-speed MD3 spin and models from 130 up to 510.

Buyers call this machine by different names depending on the trade. You might know it as a garment dyeing machine, an industrial dyeing machine, a garment dye machine, a low liquor ratio dyeing machine, a denim dyeing machine or a rotary dyeing machine. They all point to the G1.

Built for garment dyers and laundries

The G1 is for plants that dye the made-up garment: denim laundries and washing units, knitwear and t-shirt dyers, sportswear and athleisure producers, and footwear and home-textile dyers. Garment dyeing gives the soft hand and the on-trend, lot-to-lot shade variation that piece dyeing cannot, and doing it in-house puts colour, lead time and quality under your own roof. A color kitchen doses dyes and auxiliaries the same way every batch, and central computer control keeps the recipe consistent.

The choice between the LD3 low-speed and MD3 medium-speed spin comes down to how delicate the garment is, and the UP and Steam Pocket options let you tune the machine for water use and heating. Our team sizes the right G1 model and options with the factory for your fabric and batch.

Low-liquor dyeing vs conventional high-ratio dyeing

A conventional garment dyeing machine floods the drum, often at a liquor ratio of 8:1 or higher, which means heating and treating a lot of water for every kilo of garment, then sending it to effluent. The G1 with the UP system works at a ratio as low as 3:1. Less water in the bath means less water to heat, less salt and chemistry to dose, faster cycles and a smaller effluent load, which matters in India where dyeing units face real pressure on water use and discharge. The open system and color kitchen also hold the shade steady from lot to lot.

  • Less water: a 3:1 liquor ratio uses a fraction of the bath of a high-ratio machine.
  • Lower energy: less water to heat per batch, with Steam Pocket indirect heating.
  • Less chemistry and effluent: a smaller bath needs less salt and dye and discharges less.
  • Repeatable shades: the color kitchen and central control keep colour steady lot to lot.
  • Right spin: LD3 low-speed for delicate pieces, MD3 medium-speed where it suits.

Industries that use the G1

Any plant that colours finished garments is a fit. Tonello builds the G1 for:

  • Denim: jeans and denim garment dyeing and washing.
  • Knitwear and t-shirts: garment-dyed knit tops, hoodies and basics.
  • Sportswear and athleisure: performance and casual wear in trend shades.
  • Fashion and casualwear: garment-dyed fashion pieces with a soft hand.
  • Footwear: dyed uppers and footwear textile parts.
  • Home textiles: garment and piece dyeing for home-textile products.

What this machine saves you

The numbers Indian manufacturers use to justify the CAPEX internally.

As low as 3:1

Liquor Ratio (UP)

The UP system cuts the liquor ratio to as little as 3:1, so the machine dyes with far less water, chemistry and energy per batch than a conventional high-ratio dyeing machine, and sends less to effluent.

Repeatable

Shade Accuracy

The color kitchen and central control introduce dyes the same way on every batch, so shades come out reproducible from one lot to the next instead of depending on the operator.

One

Drum, Many Processes

Dye and treat denim, knitwear, sportswear and footwear parts in the same machine, with the LD3 low-speed or MD3 medium-speed spin chosen to suit the fabric.

FAQs

Questions Indian buyers ask us

Real questions from our last 50 enquiries, answered upfront.

It suits plants that dye the made-up garment: denim laundries and washing units, knitwear and t-shirt dyers, sportswear and athleisure producers, and footwear and home-textile dyers. Garment dyeing gives a soft hand and lot-to-lot shade variation that yarn or fabric dyeing cannot.

LD3 is the low-speed spin cycle, for gentle handling of delicate garments. MD3 is a medium-speed spin option in the same G1 series. Both sit on the G1 platform, which spans the 130, 325, 420 and 510 models.

A conventional garment dyeing machine often runs at a liquor ratio of 8:1 or higher, flooding the drum with water for every kilo of garment. With the UP system the G1 works at a ratio as low as 3:1, so there is far less water to heat and treat, less salt and chemistry to dose, and a smaller effluent load.

Yes. The color kitchen doses dyes and auxiliaries the same way each time, and central computer control runs the recipe consistently, so shades stay reproducible from lot to lot rather than depending on the operator.

This page covers the G1 420 in the LD3 low-speed spin configuration. The G1 series also includes the 130, 325 and 510 models, so we size the drum to your batch. Exact loading capacity, water and energy figures are confirmed per model and configuration with the factory.

Price depends on the G1 model, the spin cycle and the water and heating options, so we quote each project individually. Typical lead time is around 12 to 16 weeks including manufacture, freight and customs, after which Magnum coordinates installation and operator training in India.
