About this machine
What FK Group spreading machines do
A fabric spreading machine lays fabric back and forth along a table into a flat, even, multi-ply lay, so a cutting table can then cut many plies at once. FK Group builds a full range of automatic fabric spreaders: the Home Textile Spreader, with working widths of 300 and 320 cm, a lay height up to 18 cm (14 cm with zig-zag), 4-wheel drive and an operator riding platform; the UNICONT, an Industry 4.0 spreader with computerised drafting up to 100 steps or colours on a 180 to 220 cm width; the modular GRT system that spreads from large pallets and beam roll; and the Feeding Cradle for tension-free feeding of any fabric.
Buyers know this machine by many names. The FK Group spreader answers searches for a fabric spreading machine, an automatic fabric spreader, a cloth spreading machine, a fabric laying machine, a cloth layering machine and a home textile spreading machine. If you searched for any of those, this is the machine that does the work.
Built to feed the cutting room
A spreader is the first half of a spread-and-cut line. It pairs with an FK Group cutting table, such as the Biliardo multi-ply cutter, so fabric is laid evenly and then cut automatically, with no hand spreading or hand marking in between. It suits home-textile and bedding makers spreading wide curtain and mattress fabric, apparel cutting rooms building tall lays for garment cutting, and technical or upholstery producers that need fabric laid without distortion.
Automatic electronic tension control lays fabric without stretching it, selvedge alignment keeps the edges square, and infrared detectors watch the selvedge, the end of the fabric and the lay thickness. A fabric waste minimisation system trims overspread, and the machine connects over a wireless network into ERP and WOM systems for fully tracked production.
Automatic spreading vs manual hand spreading
Cutting rooms move from manual spreading for output and accuracy. Spreading fabric by hand is slow, stretches the material, and lets plies drift out of line, so parts cut from that lay come out distorted or short. An automatic spreader lays each ply at a controlled tension and aligned to the selvedge, builds a tall lay quickly, and stops automatically at the end of the roll.
- Consistent tension: automatic control lays fabric without stretching, so parts cut true to size.
- Aligned plies: selvedge alignment keeps edges square through the whole lay.
- Output: a tall lay up to 18 cm is built quickly to keep a multi-ply cutter fed.
- Less waste: end-of-fabric detection and the waste minimisation system cut overspread.
- Programmable: UNICONT computerised drafting handles complex draws automatically.
Industries that use FK Group spreaders
Any plant that spreads fabric before cutting is a fit. FK Group lists the spreader range across:
- Home textiles and bedding: curtains, mattress covers, quilts and wide furnishing fabric.
- Apparel, clothing and fashion accessories: tall garment lays for multi-ply cutting.
- Technical fabrics and composites: coated fabric, fibreglass and carbon-fibre material.
- Furniture and upholstery: sofa, seating and home-furnishing fabric.
- Automotive and transport: seat-cover and interior-trim fabric.
- Medical non-woven and aeronautical: non-woven and high-spec reinforcement material.
Why source the FK Group spreader through Magnum Resources
Because a spreader is only half of a spread-and-cut line, it pays to buy it from someone who knows the cutter too. Magnum Resources is FK Group's authorised India distributor, so we can match the spreader to your fabric, width and lay height, and to the cutting table that follows it. The factory has built this equipment in Italy since 1961. We arrange the shipment and customs, install the machine, and train your team, then handle service and spares from here.
If you are evaluating an automatic fabric spreading machine for a home-textile, apparel, technical or upholstery operation in India, talk to our engineers about your fabric, width and cutting-room layout. We will give you accurate specs, an honest lead time and a configured quotation.

Lay Height Per Spread
A lay height up to 18 cm means each spread feeds a tall stack of plies into the cutting table, so the spreader keeps a multi-ply cutter fed and lifts cutting-room output per spread.
Fabric Stretch & Misalign
Automatic electronic tension control and selvedge alignment lay fabric without stressing it, so plies sit square and parts cut true to size instead of distorting.
Drafting Steps Automated
UNICONT computerised drafting handles up to 100 steps or colours automatically, so complex draws on stripes, checks and directional fabric run without slow manual setting.

Questions Indian buyers ask us
Real questions from our last 50 enquiries, answered upfront.
It suits any plant that spreads fabric before cutting: home-textile and bedding makers spreading wide curtain and mattress fabric, apparel cutting rooms building tall lays for garment cutting, and technical, composite or upholstery producers that need fabric laid flat and square. It pairs with a cutting table to form a spread-and-cut line.
There are four families: the Home Textile Spreader (300 and 320 cm widths, lay up to 18 cm, 4-wheel drive, riding platform), the UNICONT (Industry 4.0, computerised drafting up to 100 steps or colours, 180 to 220 cm width), the modular GRT system (spreads from pallets and beam roll) and the Feeding Cradle (tension-free feeding of any fabric). We help you pick the right one.
Hand spreading is slow, stretches the fabric and lets plies drift out of line, so cut parts come out distorted or short. An automatic spreader lays each ply at a controlled tension, aligned to the selvedge, builds a tall lay quickly and stops automatically at the end of the roll, which protects accuracy and saves material.
The Home Textile Spreader lays up to 18 cm high (14 cm with zig-zag) on working widths of 300 and 320 cm. The UNICONT covers 180 to 220 cm widths, and selected systems reach up to a 4 m working width. We size the machine to your fabric and cutting-room layout.

Price depends on the model, working width and automation level, so we quote each project individually. Typical lead time is around 12 to 16 weeks including manufacture, sea freight and customs, after which Magnum coordinates installation and operator training in India.
